Singing Training, Coaching & Lessons
The first stage of Singing class introduces the notion that singers have five basic tools: Voice, spine, hands, eyes and facial muscles. In truth, these ‘body parts’ all work together of course, but for the sake of clarity we use this paradigm to ‘separate’ the parts so we can work on them individually.
In the second stage of Singing, we deal with the Mind of the singer: Are you truly relaxed? Confident? Open? Is ‘negative self-talk’ blocking you? Do you have a healthy level of self-esteem? Are you able to be fully present and fearless in front of an audience or are you shy, defensive, pretentious, hostile, or in some way acting out of a negative belief about yourself? This is the psychological or ‘psycho-spiritual’ chapter of our process. We use meditation, NLP and visualization techniques in a safe, supportive atmosphere to help students become more comfortable in their own skin, more able to be fully alive and aware in the Here-and-Now. There is NO negative critique-ing at VMV. The overwhelming number of our students over 25 years respond to consistent positive reinforcement ~ feeling safe, ‘heard’, and respected. When we feel safe to ‘come out and play’ the process is a lot of fun for everyone.
The final stage of singing class involves (you guessed it!) putting all the parts together into an integrated whole.
*Please be prepared to sing a cappella in the first lesson(s).
